Was Driving Along PIE TWICE, And Both Times They Had To Play "Piao Yi" on 933

Was Driving Along PIE TWICE, And Both Times They Had To Play "Piao Yi" on 933

Haha, its been a long time since the last post, probably because I've not been logging on to MSN. I've been having a hectic time juggling between school work and dota and other aspects of private life lol, haven't got much time to log online to entertain my friends in the virtual world. Anyway, I think its just me, but whenever i hear such songs when i'm driving, I always tend to enter a fantasy world where I'm Jay Chou drifting. See, its a fantasy all right. Sorry for the late replies, but yeah, I haven't yet decided what to specialise in yet.

Thought I was quite firmly towards surgery, but now I've decided to give myself a chance to explore other options.

Clara, if you all don't know yet, is my GIRLFRIEND!!! I love her to bits haha... Very nice girl, understanding, superb in baking and pretty as well! :) Best of all is that she can stand all the crap coming out of my mouth haha... If you are reading this dear, thank you for bearing with me and loving me all this while! :)

As for appealing to medicine, I'd say due to the fact that the only way you can get in is to hope that pple opt out. And for someone who has written a personal statement, begged for 2 testimonials, went through one nerve-wrecking essay test and 2 rounds of ruthless interviews, I doubt anyone who has secured a place in medicine will want to give up his/her place easily. During my time, all we had were the interviews and essay, hence most of the really smart pple treated the NUS medicine interviews as a form of practise for their other more prestigious scholarship interviews. So well, I'm sorry but chances are really slim this time...

Da Chang Jin Fever!

오나라 오나라 아주 오나 (Onara Onara Aju Ona), 가다라 가다라 아주 가나 (Gadara Gadara Aju Gana)
(Da Chang Jing Rocks)

Yes yes yes, I've been bitten by the Korean Wave. Now my favourite serial is none other than Da Chang Jin. Sigh, to think I tried to miss the first few episodes in case I got hooked to it. And after watching just half an episode, I got hooked. Sigh, even more addictive than Morphine lol. I guess its just something inside all of us which makes us fascinated with watching shows with an underdog in it and eventually rising up to become the top dog. Of course, the fact that Chang Jin's chio and the food does help as well lah, along with some melodramatic acting haha.

The words are actually the lyrics to the theme song in case you're wondering. Full details can be found at Wikipedia. Haha, yes i'm that crazy a fan. :)

Post Exam Withdrawal Symptoms

Is Trouble Brewing? You Seem A Little Large... Take It On My Tab! This Is Grisly! I Bring Pandamonium! FOR PANDARIA!!!
(Post Exam Syndrome. I'm Feeling Like A PandaBrewmaster)

Goodness. I think I'm going mad. Actually this "feeling like a Dota character" syndrome has been afflicting me throughout the end of last week, but it reached a peak just before the papers. Sigh, and now that the papers are over, I'm still experiencing these effects... things like an overwhelming urge to shout out Panda Battle Cries, feeling like 3 people stuck within me (Yes, Earth, Wind and Fire) and just plain madness. Lol.
But I'm slowly getting back to normal lah, so don't need to avoid me for fear of me stunning you. Ok, time to go back to Da Chang Jing!

So You Think You Can Dance?

Ok Ok! I'm Convinced! Mugging Is Much Easier And Less Stressful Than Dancing!
(Goodness, How Many Brain Cells Are Killed During Every Head Spin?!)

Ok, NO I HAVE NOT ATTENDED DANCING LESSONS/ATTEMPTED TO DANCE. All I've done is to watch the new show "So You Think You Can Dance" every Monday at 8.00pm. Its from there that I realise just what people can actually do with their bodies. Its amazing how people can do head spins and somersaults but are unable to do the cha cha properly. Talk about one trick ponies! Anyway, the standards of the dancers are pretty high, and the judges are just as picky (and dare I say Bitchy) as the ones on American Idol. Good entertainment. I give it 3.5 popcorns out of 5. :)

At The End, Class Prevails I Guess...

Sigh... We are finally out of IFG soccer in the end. We lost 1-0 against Engine Fac on friday in the wild card (ok, can be considered quarter finals) match.

How unfortunate. Engine Fac, the defending IFG champs and with half a team of IVP players could actually end up as the lousiest Group winner. And Medicine being the lousiest Group runner up (ok this is expected, refer to my previous entries for further explanation) have to face them with like 1 former IVP player (yes, I WAS with the IVP team for 2mths)...

Haha, but I'm still proud of the fact that we actually gave a hell of a fight against the much superior Engine Fac team lah. We pushed them all the way to the end (HAHA, more like turtled through 3/4 of the match). But hey, you can say that we defended with our lives, and it was only due to one moment of lapse of concentration that we conceded the single goal.

Oh well, according to Jingxiang and Sunder who were there as supporters of Med Fac/guest commentors, The Engineers were just faster and fitter, not much more skilful. I guess so, but so long as they beat us, I think that's enough for them to be called a good team.

Anyways, its time to look forward to next year! And goodness, I've been forced to take up the role of captaincy next year! That means I've effectively became the team captain/organiser/manager/sponsor/mascot/spokesperson/cheerleader/asshole.
Sigh, next thing you know I'll be formulating some fitness regime and diet plan for every player next year!
Haha, the guys should have seen the way I manage my teams in Championship Manager! Hope they don't regret their decision to appoint a slave driver as captain!

:p, okok I'm spending too much time blogging already. Going back to mug. Tata...

Its A She! Or Is It A... He? Well, Whatever He/She Is, It's A Smart It.

Oh My God, I Think My Cat's A Hermaphrodite! AND HE/SHE JUST LEARNT HOW TO OPEN THE DOOR!!!
(Can Male Cats Have Nipples?)

Ok, this sounds very dumb from a biological point of view, and considering the fact that I've been taking Bio since sec3, I should be able to answer this question myself. WHAT MAKES A CAT MALE/FEMALE?

I've grown up with the idea that the only way to differentiate a Tommy Cat from a Tabby Cat is via the number and size of nipples (Ok, that's for a kitten, when the lower half of the body's not fully developed yet).

Anyway, that's precisely the reason why I thought that my second cat was a Tabby Cat, as he/she, ah heck let's call it IT had 8 real prominent nipples. As time went by however, the lower part of ITS body began to develop, and that's where the confusion kicks in. I wouldn't want to elaborate, but let's say it's not looking like half the Tabby it used to be. However, it also doesn't look very much Tommy either, so I dare not place my bet on either possibilities. All I can say is: Wait and see how loh... Hopefully IT doesn't start harassing my other cat, which is a Tabby before we can sort out ITS sexuality. But hey, come to think about it, this is a good way to ascertain ITS sexuality, the "reaction to female" test! Sigh, but then again, after Brokeback Mountain and all that, nothing can be confirmed.

Ok, enough of its sexuality. Now let's talk about how smart IT is! According to my mum, IT has actually learnt how to open doors! Scary, like that dinosaur from Jurassic Park! Thankfully we live on the 5th floor, and IT can't just run out of the backyard and get into all sorts of trouble with the other strays out there. Seems like we've gotta start locking the doors already! But you never know, this smart IT Cat may jolly well find the keys. And even if IT doesn't find the keys, IT may learn how to pick the lock!

Ok, now I'm living in my own fantasy world, where Puss In Boots is a reality. Must have been those sets of MicroB notes. If worms are smart enough to stick their butts out of our skin and start laying eggs, who knows how intelligent higher life-forms like cats really are?

Some simple maths on the number of soccer players in Med Fac

Oh yeah, just wanted to add this point which one of my fellow players made.
Say we have 200 medical students each cohort. That makes 1000 students for all the 5 years. Considering the year 5s are having their final pros, there are only 800 pple available for inter fac games. Considering half of the 800 are girls, we have only 400 guys available. And considering half of the guys in med fac prefer to mug/do cultural stuff/be lazy, we have about 200 guys available for selection for interfac soccer team. And considering about half of these pple do not really play soccer, we are down to the final 100.
To find 18 outstanding players in a pool of 100... Yes, the odds are indeed against us...

A Tale Of 2 Matches, And A Movie Outing In Between

Wow, its been quite an active week for me so far.
After that freaking busy Open House weekend, I had 2 IFG soccer matches against Arts Fac and Business Fac on Tues and Fri respectively.

The match against Arts Fac was totally totally horrible! We lost 4-0, no thanks to the absence of one of our key defenders Jegga, an M4 who had chosen just the right time to pull his calf just before the start of IFG! Goodness, the Arts players were just tearing us apart with their rapid passing style of play. I was damn sad for the second goal loh. I did something like the save of the season, only to see the ball being kicked back into my goal on the rebound. Sigh, some more the third goal we considered was an own goal, something like what Thiago Motta did against Chelsea. But however, we did our decent chances lah... we did hit the post and we had some low corners flashing across the goal waiting for someone to tap the ball in.

Anyway, the match against Business Fac was so much better. After a pep talk by Captain Mingwei, where we were told that we'll be heavily underestimated/this is the match of our lives/must whack them/must win to stay in competition/make it a good 4-0 thrashing to ensure our continued presence in the competion, everyone was pretty psyched up. After a few jittery opening minutes, we actually managed to score a goal! It was quite a surprise for me, for never in my wildest dreams would i believe that us, the small half-fit amateurish muggies from Med fac, can actually score against a skilful and supposedly 'seeded' team like Business fac! By the time we were 3-0 up (and that was at half time!) I thought I was in heaven. I guess our all-out/do or die/gungho style of play actually scared off the pants of the Business players! Haha, they were spending more time kaopeing the referee than focussing on the game! Anyway, they pulled their socks up in the second half and scored their only goal of the match, conveniently robbing me of my clean sheet bonus (Kristanto promised the entire defence a dinner treat should we keep a clean sheet, lucky clown), no thanks to the referee who can't understand the meaning of off-side. But on the whole, it was an outstanding performance and we really deserved to win by more than 3 goals. Thanks Sunder and Claris for coming down to support us, at least for the 1st half!
Whether or not we qualify for the next round depends on the results between Arts and Business. If Arts win or draws, we'll be in. If Business wins, we're out. Judging by their performances, if Arts really win, there must be some conspiracy going on. So well, chances are we'll make it! There goes my mugging time for the rest of the week... :(

Oh in between the 2 matches, I went for a movie outing at Marina Sq to watch "Big Momma's House 2" (BMH2) with Clara on Wednesday! Oh well, actually Ouyang tried to ask me out to watch Brokeback on the same day as well, but I decided that:
1. I am still underage and shall not risk it due to my childish face (every parent who approached me during Open House thought I was a yr 1 medical student) 2. It is just so wrong for 2 guys to be going to watch a gay movie together.

Anyway I had already the prior appointment with Clara, so it made it much easier to reject Ouyang's erm "date" (Okok, Ouyang's straight. I'm just bashing him for not considering the nature of the movie when he asked me to watch the movie. I would be perfectly fine watching things like BMH 2 or even Date Movie with him). BMH2 was not bad and pretty understandable, considering I did not watch BMH1. It does have some meaning behind all those funny stuff you see on the trailers, things like importance of parental love, teenage delinquence and not judging stuff based on their covers. But on the whole, it is a comedy and we had quite a few laughs as well.

After the movie, we went for a tour around the newly renovated Marina Sq. To my surprise the place actually seems smaller, for we kept going back to the same place where we started our tour. Maybe it was because we kept talking and did not keep an eye as to where we were heading, or maybe it was because my impression of the large Marina Square was imprinted into me when I was like 10 (just before my journey and migration to the West). Anyway, we decided that Marina Sq wasn't big enough for the both of us and we ended up walking around Suntec City as well!

Interestingly, Clara found it awkward to do her shopping with me hanging around, comparing my presence to that of her dad! I suppose that's a considerate thought too, considering how my previous class girls will just leave me outside MANGO to entertain myself while they do their shopping. I'm ok with tagging along with girls for their shopping trips lah, just so long as they do not bring me to those lingerie and bikini sections and ask me to wait for them there while they try on the erm, clothes (yes, I was actually dragged to such places before, so PAISEH!!!!) But on the whole it was an enjoyable day lah, spent most of the time walking around aimlessly and talking.

And guess who we met on the way to the MRT station? None other than Ouyang himself! Talk about coincidences. Thankfully Clara was still there and I didn't really have to explain myself about my rejection of his "date". Haha, guess he understood.

Anyway, on our way home, I got stopped by a female MRT control station staff for a spot check on my bag. Sigh, so now I have the potential suicide bomber/terrorist look. The worse thing is that she didn't even bother to look at what was inside my bag after I opened it! She just ushered me to a table nearby, made me open the bag and said I could go almost immediately! I mean, if you really suspect someone to be a terrorist, at least make an effort to go through his stuff lah! Its as if she just disliked my look and decided that "Hey, I'll just go up there and show him who's the boss and scare the living daylights out of him by demanding to check his bag." And Clara seemed highly amused by the entire incident, but thankfully she reassured me by saying, "well, it could be anyone you know." Yeah sure. Imagine if I had kept a goatie like what Chua recommended ("To go along with your funky haircut, makes you look like a real MAN!"), I won't be able to take public transport anymore without any bus conductor/mrt control station staff/taxi driver/cable car ticketing staff/trishaw rider demanding to conduct a strip search on me!

Alrighty, that concludes another lengthy lengthy entry. Maybe I should make this blog a weekly round up of my life, in order to save some time mugging, hahaha. Aiyah, I think blog writing comes about with some sort of "ling gan". When you feel like writing, nothing can suppress your desires to write... hope it didn't come out wrongly. For now, its back to mugging! Tata...
